Day 1 BUCHAREST
Arrival at Bucharest and meeting with the tour guide. Transfer to the city center of Bucharest and panoramic tour. After check in, you will enjoy a fabulous dinner in one of Bucharest’s most traditional restaurants. Transfer back to hotel and overnight.
Day 2 WALACHIA (URLATI) - SINAIA
After a rich breakfast you will start the day in Urlati, a wine region well known and appreciated among wine connoisseurs. The Black Feteasca, in particular, is of the utmost importance, as this wine is exclusively native to Romania. This fruity, special wine is black in color and reminiscent of blueberries. After visiting a winery and wine tasting you will have a typical lunch with this particular wine from Urlati. After lunch continue to Sinaia, also called the “Pearl of the Carpathians” and visit to the mystic Castle Peles, the former summer residence of King Karol I, built in 1883. Today there is a museum with collections of paintings, sculptures, armor, carpets, antique furniture and many other valuables from that time. Dinner and overnight in Sinaia.
Day 3 BRASOV - SIGHISOARA
Breakfast. In the morning transfer to Brasov, one of the most important cities of Transylvania. Lunch in a restaurant and free time to do a little shopping. Route through Balta Citadel, the wonderful castle, that was built in the French Renaissance style. The domain produced a big section of sparkling wine bottles of Jidvei. Wine tasting and dinner with Romanian specialities. The vines of Jidvei are a symbiosis of the balance of acidity, alcohol and aromas reminiscent of the strong scent of pine raisins, lime blossoms and the sweetness of acacia honey. The cellars have won over 100 golden medals in national and international contests. Continue to Sighisoara, where the legendary Count Dracula – Vlad, the impaler – was born. Overnight in Sighisoara.
Day 4 SIGHISOARA - RED LAKE - BICAZ GORGE - PIATRA-NEAMT
After breakfast you will visit the medieval citadel of Sighisoara, which is a UNESCO world heritage site, one of the most splendid medieval cities in Romania. The historic streets of this unique town have many historical surprises in store and overwhelm with charms like no other. The 175 steps of the wooden staircase, built in 1642, belong to the church on the hill dedicated to Saint Nicholas, built in 1345. Head through Moldavia across a beautiful region marked by the Szekler culture, a Hungarian population group that settled in eastern Transylvania. Arrival at the magnificent Red Lake and lunch in a restaurant. Short walk through the impressive Bicaz Gorge. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Piatra-Neamt.
Day 5 TARPESTI - IASI
In the morning, departure to the dreamy village of Tarpesti to visit the collection of ceremonious masks of the great Romanian artist Nicolae Papa and attend a spectacular folklore show. Typical lunch prepared by the artist’s family, with sanctified water and the best wine of the region. You will then have the possibility to stroll through the fantastic wine cellars of Cotnari, which were built by Stefan the Great. The vines are more than 700 years old and the most popular are Grasa, Tamaioasa and Francusa. After the wine degustation in the winery continue to Iasi, the lovely capital of the Moldavian region, built on eight hills. Among many other things, Iasi is well known for its university, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Romania. The “city of chronicles” has long been considered the cultural and spiritual capital of the country. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Iasi.
Day 6 CRICOVA - CHISINAU
Breakfast and transfer to Cricova, where you will visit the cellars of Cricova with its numerous priceless wines. Built in 1952, the venerable wine cellars are 60 to 89 meters underground and around 60 km long. You could almost say an underground city dedicated to wine. The wine cellars of Cricova were declared a national treasure and received the Order of Merit of the Republic. After the wine degustation, a rich lunch will be served. Continue to Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova and dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight.
Day 7 MILESTII MICI - GALATI
Breakfast in the hotel. Afterwards departure to the state domain Milestii Mici, whose collection of rarities is the largest in the Republic of Moldova and was classified in 2005 by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest in Europe. The compilation includes approximately 1.5 million bottles and it took almost a year to determine the true size. Wine tasting and lunch. Continue to Galati. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8 DANUBE DELTA - SARICA NICULITEL - TULCEA
In the morning transfer to Tulcea, the gateway to the world famous Danube Delta. You will enjoy an unforgettable time in one of the largest biosphere reserves in the world. The Danube Delta has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its incomparable flora and fauna. Boat trip and lunch on board to taste the fresh fish of the area. Return to Tulcea. In the evening wine tasting and dinner at the winery Sarica Niculitel. Above all, the flourishing red wine is appreciated, but the white Aligoté is also one of the best in the country. Overnight in Tulcea.
Day 9 SLOBOZIA - BUCHAREST
Breakfast. On the way to Bucharest you will stop in Slobozia to visit the National Museum of Agriculture, which houses 8,000 agricultural engines. After a delicious lunch continue to Bucharest. In the evening, you’ll have time to stroll through the historic city center to see, among other things, Stavropoleos Church, a true gem of Roman architecture as well as the city’s quaint shopping streets. Farewell dinner in a restaurant. Overnight at a hotel in Bucharest.
Day 10 GOODBYE ROMANIA!
Breakfast and check out. Last city tour in Bucharest and visit to the Village Museum, the largest ethnographic open-air museum in Europe. Transfer to the airport and departure.
